18-foot ceilings. A pillar-free ballroom for 1,200 guests. Programmable lighting that transforms the entire room on cue. Evario Events Centre is the kind of venue that stops event planners mid-scroll — and delivers on the promise in person.
Whether you’re producing a corporate gala, fundraiser, conference, or large-scale awards evening, this is a space built for events that need to make an impression.
I’m Cynthia Priest, an Edmonton-based event photographer and Canadian Choice Award recipient. In October 2024, I photographed — and sponsored — the Tiny Footprints Society 4th Annual Starry Night Gala at Evario. As a result, what you’ll find here isn’t venue brochure photography. It’s what the space actually looks like when an event is running at full scale.
950 Parsons Rd SW, Edmonton, AB T6X 0J4
Evario occupies the main floor of Holiday Inn Edmonton South — but don’t let that undersell it. In fact, this is a contemporary, purpose-built event facility with 20,000 sq ft of flexible space and one of the largest pillar-free ballrooms in Edmonton.
The aesthetic is modern and bold. In other words, no dated hotel banquet hall energy here.
For event planners, the location is also a practical advantage: south Edmonton, close to Edmonton International Airport, with complimentary on-site parking and direct access to hotel accommodations — no shuttles, no coordination between buildings.
The pillar-free layout is the headline feature, and it earns that status. Most importantly, unobstructed sightlines from every seat means no guest is watching a keynote speaker around a column — and no photographer is working around one either.
The 18-foot ceilings create genuine visual weight. Furthermore, combined with fully programmable lighting, the room shifts from crisp conference-white to dramatic gala-gold without changing a single piece of furniture. Seating configurations include theatre, classroom, banquet, U-shape, and hollow square.
Eleven meeting rooms span the full 20,000 sq ft — each with the same 18-foot ceilings and state-of-the-art AV. For example, use them for concurrent conference sessions, VIP receptions, speaker green rooms, or board meetings running alongside a main event.

Two distinct dining concepts are available, both capable of full event service. First, Evario Kitchen + Bar handles cocktail receptions through to plated multi-course dinners. In addition, Guru Kitchen + Bar brings modern Indian cuisine — refined, vibrant, and a genuine alternative to standard banquet menus. Overall, catering is bespoke, not templated.
Parking is complimentary, surface-level, flat, and fully accessible. As a result, if you’re hosting guests with mobility needs, that ease of arrival sets the tone before they ever walk through the door.
The on-site Holiday Inn means room blocks are straightforward — no shuttles, no coordination headaches for multi-day conferences. Moreover, if you’re bringing in speakers or attendees from out of town, Evario’s location on Parsons Road puts it closer to Edmonton International Airport than most downtown venues.
In addition, every meeting room and the Grand Ballroom are equipped with state-of-the-art AV — projectors, screens, sound systems, and microphones — coordinated by a dedicated event planning team. The programmable lighting is fully customizable, which means the same room can run a corporate conference in the afternoon and a formal gala by evening.
A few more details worth noting:
The best way to understand what Evario looks and feels like is to step inside an event I actually photographed there.
In October 2025, I had the privilege of photographing — and sponsoring — the Tiny Footprints Society 4th Annual Starry Night Gala at Evario Events Centre. Notably, Tiny Footprints Society supports families affected by pregnancy and infant loss, and this annual fundraiser is one of the most meaningful events I document each year. Every detail, from the table settings to the stage program, carried real intention.
From a photographer’s perspective, Evario was exceptional to work in that night.
First, the pillar-free layout meant clear sightlines to the stage for every speaker, award presentation, and emotional moment — no columns cutting through the frame, no awkward repositioning mid-speech. Second, the 18-foot ceilings gave every wide shot a sense of grandeur that’s genuinely hard to manufacture in a lower-ceilinged space. Finally, the programmable lighting transformed the ballroom beautifully — warm, dramatic tones that complemented the starry night theme and photographed exactly as they appeared to the eye.
Throughout the evening, I moved through the room capturing candid networking moments, silent auction details, table décor, keynote speakers, and the in-between moments that organizations need when they’re telling the story of their event afterward. Ultimately, that full range of documentation — the scale and the intimacy — is exactly what a venue like this makes possible.

First, talk to the team about lighting early. The programmable lighting is one of Evario’s biggest assets, but it needs to be intentional. Specifically, know your event’s mood and build that conversation into your planning process, not your setup day.
Second, use the breakout rooms. Most planners underuse them. For instance, concurrent sessions for conferences, a VIP lounge for gala sponsors, a green room for speakers — those 11 rooms give you real flexibility if you plan for it.
Third, book your room block sooner than you think. Holiday Inn is directly connected. For multi-day conferences especially, that zero-commute morning is a genuine advantage for out-of-town attendees.
Fourth, build photography time into your event timeline. The ballroom looks dramatically different under setup lighting versus full event lighting. In particular, if you want detail shots of décor, centrepieces, and the room at its best — that window before doors open is everything.
Fifth, consider the airport proximity for national events. South Edmonton, close to YEG, easy highway access. Therefore, if you’re flying in speakers or attendees, that matters.
Finally, hire an event photographer who is experienced with large-scale spaces. A pillar-free ballroom with 1,200 guests moves differently than a 200-person sit-down dinner. As a result, you want someone who can read a room, anticipate moments, and cover both the wide and the close without missing either.
How many guests can Evario hold?
The Grand Ballroom accommodates up to 1,200 guests. Additionally, breakout rooms handle smaller groups — board meetings, VIP receptions, workshop sessions.
Is there parking?
Yes — complimentary surface parking with flat terrain, accessible spaces, and ramp access throughout.
Is Evario connected to a hotel?
It’s located on the main floor of Holiday Inn Edmonton South. Consequently, there’s direct access between the event spaces and hotel accommodations.
How far is it from Edmonton International Airport?
Evario sits in south Edmonton on Parsons Road. As a result, it’s one of the closest large-capacity event venues to YEG.
What AV equipment is available?
Projectors, screens, sound systems, and microphones are available in every meeting room and the Grand Ballroom. Furthermore, the venue’s event team handles all technical coordination.
Can we customize the lighting?
Yes — colour, intensity, and mood can all be tailored to your event’s theme.
What catering options are available?
Bespoke catering from Evario Kitchen + Bar covers everything from cocktail receptions to plated multi-course dinners. In addition, Guru Kitchen + Bar offers modern Indian cuisine — a more distinctive alternative to standard banquet service.
